PROFESSIONAL COURSE OF MUSICAL INTENSIVE TRAINING (registered AFDAS)
Level 2 intermediate – Level 3 experienced – Level 4 advanced

This course is adapted to the musicians who want to develop their professional project.
All the disciplines aim to strengthen the musician ability of self-training.
It is also the most complete preparation for getting diplomas (D.E., Fneijma, practical test in musicology).

Instrumental technique: ½ h
Level 2, 3 and 4
Individual practice with the main teacher.

Music theory/ Ear training: 1h

  • Level 2 Music theory/ ear training
    Switch between writing musical learning and its sensitive hearing.
  • Level 3 and 4 Music theory/ Ear training
    Deep study of scales and musical dynamics and their sensitive hearing.

Sight-reading: 1h

  • Level 2
    How to approach the score reading
  • Level 3 and 4
    How to approach a score with one’s instrument.

Rhythm: 1h

  • Level 2, 3 and 4
    Studying and setting up of rhythm section parameters with precision.
    Having fun with systems of improvisation, we study the styles’ characteristics – swing- Brazilian- Cuban- funk- world – etc.

Harmony: 1h

  • Level 2 harmony
    Progressive discovering of chords constructions, their figuring and their progressions.
  • Level 3 and 4 harmony
    Deep studying of harmonic paths, chords substitutions, etc.

Arranging/ Composing: 1h

  • Level 2, 3 and 4
    Harmonisation from a melodic line, repartition of voices following the characteristics of instruments, developing themes from personal projects.
    Styles studying: blues – swing – latin – funk – etc.

Computer music: 1h30

  • Level 2
    Computer-aided notation:
    Learning of notation software in order to assimilate in a better way the lessons of music theory.
  • Level 3 and 4
    Computer music:
    Learning of musical computer-aided software and their application in the process of composing.

Improvisation: 1h30

  • Level 2
    Through the instrument, learning of the codes needed to the improvisation.
  • Level 3, Level 4
    Creation of a personal musical discourse from the improvisation’s techniques.

Ensemble: 1h30
Group practice in combo, with the aim of live performing on the JAM’s stage and which can lead to a real professional project.

Recording Studio: 1h (gathered in workshops)
Learning of elementary notions about recording, mixing for the realisation of an album with one of the best class of group practicing.

Training courses: 1h (gathered in workshops)
Mini-training courses gathered in one day about essential professional elements (law, music pedagogy, production, edition, diffusion, etc.)

History of jazz and contemporary music: 1h30
A teacher, or an external intervener, shares his passion for an instrument, a musician or a musical period.

Controlled self-training:
Each week a teacher proposes a personal “homework”: sight-reading, composition, harmonisation of themes, depending on each personal project.
Those practical works are regularly controlled by the pedagogic coordinator.

(Depending on the results of the primary tests, it is possible to attend some of these classes up there, in a preparatory level).

+ 12h Master Class / year
Annual schedule: 417 h
Annual Fees:4000 Euros

For the personal funding, the JAM school allocates a 350 Euros grant which brings the amount to 3650 Euros per year
+ 50 Euros for the registration and appliance fees.
